Three years after debuting at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 4 x 400m Mixed Relay was introduced to the Carifta Games 2023 with Team Grenada snatching the Silver medal, just behind the winners and host nation, the Bahamas.

The mixed relay features a team of four athletes, two males, and two females. Each team decides the order of appearance of their athletes which means success is built on both speed and tactics. Team Grenada employed a daring strategy of using their female athletes, Cheffonia Houston to open, and Jamara Patterson, to anchor the race while the males, Jayden Phillip and Taigon Peterkin held the middle.

The Grenadian team completed their run in a time of 3:27.22 to claim the silver medal in a time just behind the Bahamas (3:24.26) while Guyana took the bronze in 3:29.22. With Grenada set to host the 2024 Carifta Games, expect the mixed relay to return and team Grenada to aim at improving their inaugural performance.
